How to set up your policy
We walk you through the information you need to set up your group protection policy. You’ll be allocated a named account handler during set up, so they’ll know exactly where you are in the process.
Have the quote we’ve provided to hand when you’re completing the forms as you’ll need provide the quote number. You can find the number at the top of your quote.
Bear in mind that we can’t offer financial advice. We recommend that you speak to a financial adviser before making any major decisions or if you need further guidance to decide what cover would be suitable.

Set up your policy
Check through your quote
Make sure you’re happy with the quote and that all the information you’ve provided is correct. If you’ve already supplied the information we need, the quote will state that it’s ‘guaranteed’.
If your quote isn’t guaranteed, we may need some more information from you, so please get in touch.
Trust set up
Schemes are set up using a discretionary trust and rules. You can use an existing trust if you already have one that is suitable. If you don’t want to set up and manage your own scheme, you can apply to use our Mastertrust option at no extra cost. Our Mastertrust brochure pdf (626kb) provides more details.
Complete the proposal forms
We’ll email you the correct forms to complete. However, copies of all the forms can be found in the key documents section below.
Complete the direct debit form
This form needs to be completed if you’re paying for the cost of cover monthly.
Check the membership data
Please make sure the membership data, with details of all the employees you’d like us to cover, is up to date.
Switching providers
If you’re switching from another insurer and they applied additional terms for an employee’s cover, for example following medical underwriting, you’ll need to complete a switch terms declaration form pdf (305kb) or send us a copy of the previous insurer’s acceptance letter.
Additional information
We’ll let you know if we need any other details before we confirm cover.
Please provide all information within 14 days of the day cover is due to begin.
When your policy is successfully set up, we’ll send you a policy document and an account based on the membership details supplied. The policy document will detail the cover we’re providing, and the account will confirm the premium you’ll need to pay.

If you’re considering introducing a flexible or voluntary option to your policy and haven’t already requested a quote, please read our Guide to flexible and voluntary benefits brochure pdf (16mb pdf).
The guide explains the minimum number of employees you can have for these types of policies, as well as the minimum and maximum cover amounts.
