Early intervention
Early intervention not only improves outcomes for the health and wellbeing of employees but can help protect the cost of future premiums by decreasing the chances of cases going to claim.
Many companies don’t know where to turn for advice when an employee is struggling. Our Be Well Helpline will provide early intervention advice and support to help HR and Line Managers proactively manage employees who are showing signs of stress or struggling to carry out all their duties.
Early intervention timeline
If an employee needs treatment, our vocational rehabilitation is focused on providing suitable intervention for employees at the earliest opportunity so we can aid their recovery and support them back to work.
We work with the employer and the employee throughout rehabilitation to support access to suitable treatment. Early intervention works best if we are notified between weeks two and four of an absence.
- Our in-house vocational rehabilitation team will be in touch with an employee within two working days.
- Following an assessment, if treatment is recommended, we will contact our specialist healthcare partners to arrange it.
- Our healthcare partners contact the employee within two working days and arrange treatment to take place within five working days.
- A treatment plan is put in place and support for returning back to work.

Vocational rehabilitation
In-house clinical team
We have our own in-house clinical team who are all medically trained. They include occupational health specialists, occupational therapists, registered nurses and physiotherapists.
Our focus on expert care for the employee aims to reduce the length of absence enabling a quicker return to work which is a great support for businesses and the reason many employers choose to work with us.
The team provide an end-to-end service. The clinician works with the employee at the beginning of their absence and the team stays in touch throughout their treatment to facilitate a smooth transition back to work. Employers will be kept up to date throughout the process.
Acting as expert mediators, our in-house team develop a tailored care pathway and a bespoke return-to-work plan with both the employer and their employee without the need for a GP referral. Any treatment we recommend is funded by us, with no additional cost to employers or employee.
For very complex cases, a roundtable of experts assess an employee’s requirements and recommend the most appropriate course of treatment. This integrated approach, managed by specialists, lays the foundations for the best outcomes.
Where medical treatment isn’t necessary, one of the team might signpost the employee to other support, such as the employee assistance programme or a specialist charity.
