Support for your SME clients

Small businesses rely heavily on attracting and retaining the right employees and are constantly competing with larger organisations that offer a wide range of benefits. We generally provide the same type of product offering and wellbeing support to small businesses as we do to larger ones, helping SMEs recruit and retain employees on a more level playing field. As a wider business, we also look at how we can champion SMEs through initiatives such as Inclusive Capitalism and Minds@Work.

Championing SMEs

Minds@work

Minds@Work

Legal & General has partnered with Minds@Work to provide SMEs with mental health support

Minds@Work identified that SMEs are the largest group of employers and employees, who have the least amount of support around mental health. With financial support from us, they were able to set up a programme that has been specially designed to support SME leaders and colleagues in improving mental health support within their organisations.

Inclusive Capitalism

Money we receive from customers across our business helps us to invest in a range of opportunities, including small businesses, supporting them financially to develop products and services that benefit us all, like renewable energy. Championing SME businesses also extends to providing the right type of group protection products and wellbeing support through product development and sustainable pricing.

Communication tools

If your SME clients struggle to make their employees aware of, value and understand the wellbeing benefits they’ve just invested in, they’re not alone. We can help your SME clients with that:

Infographic: How to tell staff about their benefits

This infographic provides a few ideas for how and when an employer can tell their staff about the employee benefits they’ve invested in.

Screensavers for employers to download

As part of the communication support we can provide to your SME customers, we’ve created 12 screensavers that aim to raise awareness of the wellbeing services their employees now have access to.

ABI: Day one Statements

Do your clients know about the new Day One Statements that came into force in April 2021? As well as providing their employees with ‘Day One Statements’ about their employment, it can also be used as an opportunity to tell employees about the employee benefits on offer as well. The trade association Group Risk Development (GRiD), worked with the Association of British Insurers (ABI) to develop an employer toolkit to help employers to communicate this.
