Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Report - Second Edition

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)

Introduction to the second edition

How can group income protection (GIP) help overcome barriers to equity and inclusion?

If we start with the premise that ‘Good work is beneficial for health’ – in other words, work that ensures a healthy, happy and productive workplace – then we can understand why diversity, equity and inclusion represent crucial contributors to that. Because in order to thrive, there needs to be a sense of fairness, purpose and belonging.

In this report, we make the assumption that the diversity (D) is fairly well developed in most organisations (relatively speaking), so in the second edition we zoom in on the equity (E) and the inclusion (I), taking a close look at how GIP can help overcome some of the current barriers to equity and inclusion.
